    Early Childhood Education

    Early Childhood Education Directorate regulates the operation of early childhood education and care services for children from birth to school age. The directorate also administers some funding to education and care services.

  • External Relations Policy

    External Relations Policy

    External Relations Policy negotiates and manages national policy and Commonwealth funding issues. The directorate is also responsible for the not-for-profit requirements of non-government schools.

  • Strategic Resource Management

    Strategic Resource Management

    The Strategic Resource Management Directorate provides strategic leadership and advice to the External Affairs and Regulation Division on all aspects of resource management, including people, engagement, finance and communications, to support the division to meet its objectives. The Directorate is responsible for the Department’s major external funding programs covering non-government schooling and early childhood education which includes management of $1.5 billion funding for over 900 non-government schools and 5000 early childcare services across the state. The Directorate leads the development of specialist advice in strategic funding policy to ensure effective investment of Departmental resources to achieve NSW government objectives in schooling and early childhood education.

  • Higher Education and Tertiary Policy

    Higher Education and Tertiary Policy

    Higher Education provides high-level advice and develops NSW positions on higher education issues for State and national forums and is responsible for administering the legislative responsibilities of the Minister for Education for the 10 universities in NSW.

  • National Initiatives and Performance

    National Initiatives and Performance

    The National Initiatives and Performance Directorate develops cross-divisional policy proposals and projects and manages national performance and accountability processes.
